A leading and innovative medical device company located in Jerusalem is seeking an experienced Head of R&D to join its executive leadership team.
We are looking for a strong technological leader with excellent managerial and interpersonal skills, a passion for innovation, and proven experience in building and leading high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
As the Head of R&D, reporting directly to the CEO, you will hold full responsibility for the company’s research and development strategy, execution, and technological leadership in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team on matters related to technology, innovation, intellectual property, core competencies, and product development strategy.
• Define and lead the company’s technological roadmap and oversee the end-to-end development of advanced medical device products.
• Manage all development activities related to a multidisciplinary neurostimulation platform, including requirements definition, design, verification, validation, and transfer to production.
• Collaborate closely with marketing and commercial teams to align R&D activities with market needs and business objectives.
• Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous knowledge development within the organization.
• Ensure R&D projects are executed according to timelines, budgets, and agreed technical specifications.
• Define development milestones and drive cross-functional teams toward successful execution.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration across R&D, management, operations, clinical, and commercial teams.
• Support pre-commercial development activities and successful product launches.
• Identify and manage technological and project-related risks while promoting strong project management methodologies.
• Support business activities related to licensing, partnerships, financing, and potential M&A opportunities.
• Assist in developing and strengthening the company’s intellectual property portfolio and IP strategy.
• Provide technical support to clinical and commercial programs as needed.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and industry stakeholders.
• Monitor competing technologies and industry trends, providing strategic insights to leadership.
• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
• M.Sc. degree – advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in R&D leadership roles within the medical device industry.
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary medical device development involving hardware, software, and mechanical systems.
• Strong familiarity with FDA and European medical device regulations, quality systems, and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to define long-term technological strategies aligned with commercial goals and execute them successfully.
• Proven track record of leading products through full development and commercialization processes.
• Experience developing complex medical devices involving advanced manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Strong leadership capabilities with experience building and mentoring successful teams.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple functions and stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail and the ability to operate both at high-level planning and hands-on execution.
• Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
